Up to now, I've always cut Caleb's hair (or should I say, as the old joke goes, all his hairs? haha...). His very first haircut was given in front of the T.V., watching some movie that kept his attention away from the scissors. After a couple given that way, we graduated to the bathroom counter because his hair had grown thick enough to have to use the buzzers. Things were going smoothly at home, but after four years I figured it was time for Caleb to join the Van Zante men getting a professional cut. It looked pretty iffy at first, we weren't sure if he would go through with it. But with a little pouting and some moral support, he made it through!

The previously mentioned moral support. Loren, Josh and Caleb all had appointments at the same time and Papa arrived at Cathy's just in time to give a little encouragement. |

The previously mentioned pouting. There were just a few nervous tears at first. And then he traded in the tears for the big pouty lip. I love this picture! |
|
Soon the big pouty lip turned to an angry "I can't BELIEVE I actually LET them put me in this chair and I'm NOT gonna make eye contact OR speak with anyone EVER again!" stare down with the floor. |

Sarah Rose was feeling a little left out. But unless by some other ornery, naughty hands (in other words, SHE finds the scissors), she's not going to have her hair cut until she's old enough to decide that she wants it cut. I can just see long, beautiful golden locks flowing behind her veil on her wedding day....in forty years.... |

And the result! What a cutie. Thanks Cathy! |
