It's time to start planting...sort of! A few years ago, Josh and I planted giant pumpkins with alot of success without really trying. Then along came the kids and the idea got dropped while they were babies. We tried last year, but our usually wonderful garden spot was not so wonderful when the rainwaters washed down the hill, over the terrace and straight into the what was supposed to be our bountiful harvest. But this year, we've made a goal to succeed again. With a few ideas of how to properly use our abundant amount of composted manure, the kids and I are aiming to grow the largest pumpkins you've ever seen. Oh! And the solution to the unpredictable weather? Josh doesn't know it yet, but he's going to help us plant them in several different spots across the farms so that if one spot doesn't work we'll have half a dozen other spots to hope for! Gotta love him :-)

Soil in a bag? They were amazed and couldn't wait to dig into it! |
First Caleb.... |
....and then Rosie Posie. It was so funny to see their reactions - they couldn't believe they were getting to play with dirt in the house! |
After filling the peat pots with the soil, it was time to place the seeds. The first we planted were the giant punkins. |
And the another tray of peat pots, more soil and then the mini punkins. |
To water, we got Sarah's teapot, the only thing I could think of with a child-friendly watering spout. Sarah thought that having actual water in the teapot was just about the best thing ever! |
And the reason for the papers.... Sarah's aim isn't quite accident proof yet. |
He wasn't too sure about the pink tea pot and so tried to convince me to use a tea cup instead. But, alas, Mommy was mean and insisted on the pink (spouted) teapot. |
We ended up with 12 giant pumpkins and 27(?) mini pumpkins basking in the warm early morning sunshine that hits our dining room table. |
