October 15th was Josh's 35th birthday. As I reminded him often leading up to the big day, he is now closer to 40 than he is to 30! Since his birthday was on a weekday (meaning all work and no play!), we did his "big" birthday event on Sunday. But that will be a post on its own. For now, here's his actual-birthday-day celebration with cupcakes, cards and a gift:
Happy Birthday to the birthday boy! We had cupcakes this year instead of a decorated cake. But they were special cupcakes... |
Bacon Cupcakes! Yes, with real bacon! The cake part was chocolate with maple and bacon and the frosting was chocolate with maple. And bacon sprinkles since every cupcakes just HAS to have sprinkles. They were actually very tasty! |
Bite of approval!
Josh requested lasagna for his birthday lunch, so after a lunch of just that with homemade garlic bread and salad, we moved on to cards and his gift. |
The kids drew him birthday pictures that morning. I should have taken a picture the actual pictures. Sarah's was super cute. She drew a picture of Josh, Caleb and herself feeding Saki, our bottle calf. She was so proud to give it to Daddy! |
The kids found a perfect card for Daddy and could hardly wait to give it to him! |
It was perfect for a meat-eating-man who looks the other way when veggies are passed around... |
Next up, gift time! What could it be? |
A four pack! |
Yes, we gave root beer as a gift. We're simple folk :-) |
A good time was had by all! I'm glad we could celebrate over the noon hour. It was fun and memorable and that's all that matters. |
That is what Zeke got for his birthday this year too, Root Beer! He was very happy!
