Josh's grandparents, Grandpa Elmer and Grandma Elizabeth, are residents of Maple Ridge in Oskaloosa. One of the seasonal activities that their activity director coordinated this year (maybe every year, I know last year they did it, too) was a door decorating contest. The offer was thrown out to the whole family for whoever to accept that wanted to to help the grandparents with their door. I accepted!
I have to admit I was excited; a great chance for the elementary teacher creativeness to come out in me! I love this kind of stuff!

This was my inspiration. I modified it somewhat for the assisted living facility, downsizing it a hair so it wouldn't completely overtake their hallway. I didn't want it to be too obnoxious, though I would have loved to done this whole project! |

The beginning of a masterpiece, ready to be loaded up for a little trip to Osky. |

The finished product. Turned out pretty cute, I think. Each snowflake has the name of a member of the family on it. I kinda like it. I had everything on hand except for the brown paper to cover the door and the doilies for the snowflakes. I doodled everything out, colored it in and with a little tape here and a little tape there... voila, we have a gingerbread house door! |

While I was decorating, the kids and Josh visited with the great grandparents. Caleb gets a kick out of Great Papa's wheelchair. |

Great Grandma Elizabeth very much enjoys sudoku puzzles. The kids had a fun time working with her puzzle board with her. |

Group shot! Precious memories! |
