The kids definitely have a variety of thing they enjoy doing. Caleb absolutely loves to play in the water on a hot day while prissy Sarah Rose will have nothing to do with it. Sarah Rose can finger paint many times longer than Caleb has the patience for. Observe:

Last summer, our local library's reading summer program's theme was "water". One of the contest was to make a shadow box with a water theme. Caleb, who was three at the time, chose to do his shadow box on the story of Jonah and the big fish. He then dictated to me the story and I wrote it on the side of the box. He won first place for his age group and the prize was a water sprinkler. Its a long tube with shorter, limber tubes attached that go crazy with the pressure of the water once its turned on. |

Little Miss Sarah is sitting on the slide in the background. She would have nothing at all to do with it. Meanwhile, Caleb is trying to get the nerve up to run through it for the first time! |

YAY! What fun! |
|
And then I dared him to straddle the water while I counted to five. He took a lot of convincing, but he actually did it! The boy has more endurance for crazyy, cold water than I do! |
|
A few days later, our lovely warm weather turned cold, rainy and miserable. So we were forced to do inside things, like break out the finger paints. Sarah very much enjoyed it... |

...as is obvious by her showing off her hands and arms. She had paint all the way up to her armpit! Despite her solemn look, she really did have a fun time making a mess. |
