It seems as though the kids pick a theme each day for the toys their gonna play with. Sometimes its books, sometimes its super hero capes (hooded towels), sometimes its kitchen things, or trucks or any number of things we have in the toy room. On this particular day, it was dinosaurs. The dinosaurs you're gonna see below are Josh's from when he was a kid. They were passed down as a gift for Caleb's third birthday last year. Caleb has gone in and out of the dinosaur phase (as little boys tend to do) and we are back into it, full force! Let him tell you what he knows about them:
First, before Caleb starts filling your mind with amazing dinosaurs facts that you'll be sorry you didn't know before you read this blog, you should know that these pictures were taken when the dinosaurs joined us for snack time. Here's the whole crew and if you look closely, you can see that the dinosaurs actually joined in eating Cheerios with us! |
Let the interview begin:
"Tank" Ankylosaurus: eats plants, they have spikes that are very pointy and are used for showing off because they don't want other dinosaurs to be mean to them, they have two spikes on their tail, they have short legs, they have sharp eyes so they can see far away (can't vouch for that one, but he knows more about them than me!)
(By the way, you can see that Caleb and I have discovered why God REALLY created the spikes!) |
"Ned" Brachiosaurus: they have looooooooong necks, they eat leaves off the trees, they have little legs in front and big legs in the back, they have kinda sharp teeth, they have a big belly so they eat alot |
Spinosaurus: has a loooooong fin, sharp teeth, eats fish, the fin is used for cooling him off, has sharp claws and a short neck and a long tail |
Staci Styrocosaurus: has many horns, sharp teeth and eats plants, and has kind-of long legs |
"Morris" Stegosaurus: he has spikes on his tail for showing off and fighting, has plates down his back to keep him safe, has long legs AND short legs, eats plants so he's a herbivore |
"Tank" Triceratops: has three sharp horns to poke with, eats plants, and he has a frail(??? I think that's what he called it, the plate thingy behind his horns) |
"Buddy" T-Rex: the Tyrannosaurus Rex, eats meat so he's a carnivore, big sharp teeth, good eyesight, big back legs, stands on two legs, really mean |
Calebsaurus: likes to wear a bulldozer shirt, eats meat and plants so he's a omnivore, he has good eyesight and roars loud, sleeps at bedtime, and has a good smeller |
Sarahroseasaurus: eats meat and plants, has a short nose, mean and grumpy most of the time (yes, I corrected him to say nice things!), and has beautiful eyes (see...he's now saying nice things!) |
Back to me.... I call this picture "The Dinosaur Whisperer". |
Any of you who have little ones who watch PBS may recognize the names of the dinosaurs come from "Dinosaur Train". Between this show (Caleb gets to watch it after the lunch hour when the "babies" are falling asleep) and the dinosaur books he checks out at the library, he has a knowledge of facts and recognition that I think surpasses most four year olds.
By the way, I'm not even going to hope that I got the spellings right!
I think it's a frill.' :)
