With a Few Tinkertoys...

....and a little imagination, a cold Saturday morning stuck indoors can be transformed into a live music concert in the middle of the toy room.  After singing every song we knew into the microphone, with Cowboy Caleb and Sassy Sarah accompanying on the guitar, we became reporters in a news room.  I was news anchor Mama Van Zante reporting on Super Hero Caleb saving the planet from a polar bear. Sarah provided our backup "this is important breaking news - stop everything you're doing NOW and listen up" music of 'laaaaa laaaaa bum bum'  I am happy to be the bearer of good news....the polar bear will leave the planet alone when it warms up.  Until then, enjoy the pictures of the concert:

George Strait wannabe.  Every singing cowboy needs a flashy shirt!

Better view of the guitar.  It looks simple enough, but it actually took a lot of patience and some creative fix-it skills.  I was hoping the end of each song wouldn't bring a smashing of the instruments!

My little back up singer.  I love this picture.  We have had several hard days with Sarah and her grumps, and it was nice to finally see her like this...even if for just a few minutes.

I title this picture "When Backup Singer Mutiny".  One can be backup for only so long before the urge to break into stardom must run its course...

Its like she's lifting the guitar in victory!  Her winning trophy.

Finally, the two agree to compromise.  The guitar was damaged in the course of negotiation, but the microphone survived and the result was several repetitive verses of "laaaaaa laaaaaa bum bum".  ( As much as I love my children and the success of their musical endeavors this morning, there is only so many hundred times I can listen to "laaaaaa laaaaa bum bum".  The microphone was also eventually dismantled and the musical career of the morning dissolved into winter time memories.  Ahhhh...silence!)
