Its cold. Its snowy. Its windy. Its miserable. Here's some things we do to pass the time.
We dance. Most of the time we have fast, upbeat music playing. But when I took this picture, we had an Alabama CD playing and a slow song came on. I love to slow dance with my kids so they knew exactly what to do when a slow song came on. |
We play Playdough. I, for one, don't like Playdough. But I muddle through it for the kids. We make all sorts of things, but the most popular is snowmen. This is a the stamper they got for Christmas. |
We play dress up. We are very, VERY short on dress up clothes. But Daddy's clothes usually do just fine! |
We invent games. The three kids were working together to drag the basket of books in giant laps around the house. (It doesn't take too much to entertain them, does it?) Sarah Rose got tired and jumped in (and the other kids didn't mind!)!!!! Pretty smart chicky I got there! |
We have snack time! Our friend Dora shared her donuts with us! Donuts are rare in this house and Sarah Rose enjoyed every bite! |
We craft. Grandma Rhonda gave us some bird houses and paints quite a while ago and we're just now getting around to painting them. Caleb was having great fun.... |
...but Sarah Rose was not all that happy that nap time was over! |
This was the next day. She's quite a bit happier with the glitter broke out! |
We bake. And we bake alot. We bake all our own bread, plus the snacky foods (cookies, bars, etc.) and breakfast foods (cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, etc.). Here we are baking cinnamon rolls for the next morning. Caleb's job was the brown sugar and Sarah Rose's job was putting the apples on. They love to help. |

We plan. We've had seed catalogues laying around for a while and finally the kids and I sat down to plan our dream garden for this summer. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, hot peppers, cantaloupes, watermelon, squash, gourds, green beans, radishes, pumpkins (giant and mini) and spinach are the 'for sures'. And strawberries, grapes and rhubarb are the 'hopes'. We'll see how it turns out! |
