Singing for his...Ice Cream

This is Caleb's first year in Sunday School.  And being a member of Sunday School also means that he is a member of the Cherub Choir.  And being a member of the Cherub Choir also means that he is supposed to sing with the other boys and girls for the congregation from time to time.  Well, if you know Caleb, he is incredibly shy (but getting better!) and going up in front of the church is not exactly on his top ten list of things to do on Sunday morning!

Now, I'm not exactly condoning bribery.  BUT little boys should be rewarded when they accomplish something that is big time out of their comfort zone.  So, I promised Caleb that if he would go up and sing with the rest of the boys and girls, we would have ice cream sundaes at home that night. (Something that is really special because we don't buy ice cream very often at all.) He didn't even have to sing, just stand up on stage and be handsome instead of hiding behind the microphone stand and almost crying like he did last time.  IT WORKED...and he even held up his letter poster to spell out "Bible"! I was so proud of Caleb because I know how hard a job it was for him.  I didn't get a picture of him singing like I wanted because I was playing the piano, but enjoy the pictures of the reward!

Here's the gang...ready for action.

And the sundaes all made.  Couldn't get any of the actual making of the sundaes...the three of them kept my hands busy with controlling the toppings.  Let's just say I was hoping for enough leftover cherries for a pineapple-upside-down-cake and thanks to Josh setting the standard for "all the cherries you can eat", his cake is going to be cherryless.

I think that look is the "let's just eat it" look.

Sarah had more fun mixing than she did eating.  In fact, I don't think she ate much of the ice cream at all.

Since the weather has gotten cooler and the nights come so early, we've started a tradition of playing games before bedtime.  Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Go Fish and Match are the usually choices.  This night just happened to be Candyland.
