We had the stomach flu over Thanksgiving and really didn't feel up to doing much Thanksgivingy fun (we missed both our family's dinners), which means we're jumping straight to Christmasy fun things. Now, my kids like crafts well enough, but they would rather be running around...sitting still for too long to actually finish a project doesn't appeal to their inner desires to wreck havoc on the house, I guess. UNLESS...there are scissors involved! So we broke out the scissors and started cutting strips for a paper chain for the small tree the kids will get to decorate themselves.

After a few minutes, Caleb decided that cutting the strips would be more fun if he turned it into an experiment: his idea was to see how many strips could be cut at one time. We started with one strip, then went to two, this picture looks like it has three, and (if I remember right) four was his limit. You can just see the determination on his face to get that paper cut! (And yes, I was a little nervous for my fingers...but better mine that his!) |

Then it was Sarah's turn to try. Caleb held the paper while I helped Sarah fanaggle the scissors. |
Then it was time to play in the confetti before we started taping the loops. |
Seconds after I took this picture, Sarah's tummy had a relapse in not feeling well. Thankfully, it didn't feel well in the opposite direction of the paper we had just cut. So we didn't actually get much of the chain made that afternoon, but we spend a few minutes on it each day and as of now.... |
...it's this long. We're putting the trees up on Sunday, so we hope to have the chain done by then so the kids can put it on their little tree that lights up the window. |
