We have officially joined the "sledding behind the four wheeler" club!! When it snowed Friday, the conditions were just right for us to go out and play in it: little wind and mild temps! The kids were patient enough to watch the HUGE flakes fall from the warm side of the window while I did a few chores around the house and Sarah's hair (which will be another post), then we bundled up and headed outdoors for a few minutes to play in the
falling snow...
falling being the most important word! They had been asking to do this for a while, but with the weather we've been having this winter we just didn't have the opportunity to: there either hasn't been any snow, or its been rainy snow, or its been too cold while it was snowing to be in it. Anyways... you'll see, our membership to the club was met with mixed reviews:

Finally bundled up. The kids have had "snufdy nosdes", so we dressed extra warm with plenty of layers. It took a while. But when we finally got out, I got a thumbs up for the fun. |
What to do first? Well, how about a race to the tree?
Until the race was cut short by.... |
.... the sound of the four wheeler approaching! This was a total surprise! When we planned to go out, we didn't know Daddy was going to join us! |
The kids are now racing to Daddy instead of the tree! |
And they couldn't even wait until the sled was hooked up before getting on! This was the first time the kids have been sledding with the four wheeler, so their excitement was at an all time sledding high! |
There they go! |
And here they come. Caleb is giving thumbs up but Sarah doesn't like it a bit. It wasn't the sledding that she hated, it was the snow hitting her face. |
Over the driveway and through the yard. |
Daddy's having fun, too! |
Sarah Rose finally dismounted and left Caleb to go solo. Can you tell he's having a grand time!?!? |
So we put Sarah on the four wheeler with Josh and I joined Caleb on the sled. It was a ton of fun, even for this 30 year old mama! |
After a lap around the yard and Sarah Rose still not being happy on the four wheeler, she and I came inside leaving the boys to their own fun/work. (One more trip around the yard and then they started back on the jobs for the day.) She is tearful at the disappointment of the snow not being fun. She didn't count on the snow hitting her face and she was very upset about it! Still to this day (4 days later), she comes up to me to randomly remind me that the snow wasn't fun. |
After finally getting out of all the layers, I got her in a chair all snuggled up in a blanket with a Strawberry Shortcake movie playing. It wasn't too long before she was her (mostly) happy self again and was up to.... |
... making cookies! She enjoyed this much more than the snow, especially the part where she got to eat the mini Hershey Kisses that topped off the peanut butter cookies! |
