Cakes!

For the past couple of years, I have been toying with the idea of decorating cakes for others.  With much encouragement from Josh and finally enough confidence from the practice I've had, I have decided to try my hand at a cake decorating business.  I'm super excited to decorate cakes and thrilled with the idea a friend of mine (thanks, Staci!) gave me for the financial end of things.  So, if you need a cake for a great deal in the Eddyville/Oskaloosa/Ottumwa area, I'm your lady!

I've come up with a "menu" including cakes, cookies, pies, pastries and more!  So if you're having an event and want homemade goodies, check me out.  I'm no Jaarsma, but it'll be homemade and tasty!

Caleb's first birthday cake was Elmo.  It was pretty rustic looking, but turned out okay for the second cake I'd ever decorated!

His second birthday cake was Sponge Bob. (He use to watch Sponge Bob when he was too young to understand the jokes and gist of the story.... its since been forbidden in the house!)  This one was really cool!  Even up close, it didn't look too bad.

I felt guilty about his third birthday cake.  This one was done (baking cooling and decorated)  in under an hour and a half.  BUT he did have a cake and he liked it!

International Harvester themed cake for Papa's birthday.  I had no box to transport it from our house to theirs, so it got kinda squished.

When I first started, I just wanted to keep practicing.  This one says "Happy Tuesday" and was the fourth or fifth one I decorated.

Caleb and Sarah's joint birthday cakes from last year.  I tried a new frosting, didn't work out so well.  But you get the idea.
You may ask "Where's Sarah's cakes?"  Well, she's only had two birthdays, one of which is the Curious George from above.  I did a ring tower for her first birthday... it came out lopsided, but she loved it!

I've done many, many other cakes and cupcakes, but never thought of taking a picture of them all.  The last year or so, my cakes have turned out very nice, but no pictures.  Oh well... you'll just have to trust me!

One more plug.... if you need a special event cake, let me know!  The deal I give you will be hard to beat!
