Friday and Saturday brought some special baking to our kitchen. Take a look:

My lopsided log cabin cake. My niece, Abigail, turned three on Saturday and we made a special birthday cake to help celebrate her big day. She and her sister Jocelyn are big "Little House on the Prairie" fans and so a log cabin cake seemed fitting. It's a little lopsided, but Sarah and Caleb had fun helping and Abby enjoyed it nonetheless! The picture doesn't really do the cake justice, but it was pretty cute. |

Josh and Loren very much enjoy their Dutch letters. So every once in a while (meaning whenever I remember to put almond paste on the grocery list), I make them homemade letters. They are fresh and taste as good as the ones that can be bought in the stores. They may not be as pretty as Jaarsma's, but they're just as tasty! |
