Beautiful Saturday! Part One

Saturday morning brought another family road trip to Keosauqua to sale piggies at market.  But you've already seen all that in a previous post.  When we got home, we had a picnic lunch on our picnic table (a picnic table is a great place to have a picnic lunch, huh?), then inside for Sarah Rose's naptime before we headed back outdoors to once again enjoy the wonderful weather... and talk Papa and Daddy into taking a break from their cultivator preparation (that'll be another blog post) to hang a tire swing in the sandbox tree out back.  Fun times were had by all:

To make a proper tire swing, one must have a tire...

...and some rope, both having been passed by the four-year-old quality control inspector.

And you also need a ladder, a couple willing men...

...and a willing climber.

Or three climbers.  Do you see Caleb at the top of the ladder?  Josh is right under him and Sarah is trying her hardest to keep up.  This kind of stuff is what keeps us on our toes at all times ...my kids are pretty well ready for any adventure that makes an appearance.  They didn't even hesitate at the sight of the ladder!  In fact, they couldn't wait for Daddy and Papa Loren to get the thing steady!

Caleb is at the very top of the ladder, once again using his quality control skills to approve the branch that the tire will hang from.  Little did we know when he got dressed that morning that he would be having his picture taken in a tree.  If we did, we would have chosen something other than a brown and green shirt with a John Deere hat!

Papa Loren distracted the kids from the ladder long enough for Josh to get the "work" done.  I think he was convincing the kids that the rope needed to be held back so Daddy could measure...or something close to that!  Whatever it was, it got the kids away from the ladder long enough for Josh to get done.

Caleb testing the height of the tire swing before Josh tied it permanently.

And finally, after what seemed like forever for the kids, the swing was tied and ready for a ride.  This was actually Caleb's second try.  The first time he tried sitting through the swing - it turned out to be very ungraceful!  This way proved to much more successful.

And the big kid :-)

This picture says it all!
Sarah loves to swing!  If only you could have heard her belly laugh, you would have surely start chuckling right along with her.

There was much more to Saturday evening, but alas the blog won't let me post more pictures right now.  Silly blog.  But, that is why this is titled Part One.  There will be a Part Two tomorrow along with Sunday's adventures...involving a dam, some holy tulips, and a sight that no one has seen since Josh's high school gym days!  Stay tuned  :-)
