Its All About Sarah...

...and her curls.

**WARNING:  You've all seen Sarah and her curls before.  This post is all about Sarah and her curls again.  So if you were bored last time or just don't want to see more of the same, I'd advise to skip this reading because it has 13 more beautiful pictures of my beautiful daughter and her beautiful curls!**

So what shall the Van Zante ladies do when the younger of the two refuses to nap, the Van Zante boys are away and the one babysittee that's left is sleeping?  Well, we could clean...beneficial and has potential for bonding.  But it seems like I'm cleaning all the time and that's not fun for rare mother-daughter time.  We could do bookwork... but really, that would involve Sarah playing alone while I worked and that's not any fun.  (Although bookwork was supposed to be what I was to do if Sarah had napped like she was supposed to.)  We could get a head start on supper, but I had planned a kid-friendly menu that Caleb was looking forward to helping with and he wasn't home, so that ruled that out.  Hmmm...what's a girl and her mommy to do?

Well, you've probably figured out by now (and if you haven't, all I can say is ... "WOW!") that we dug out the curling iron and the Hot Setz, plopped Sarah Rose on the bathroom counter and started curling.

Initially, she didn't want anything to do with the camera.  This is more like a mug shot than a "awww...that's adorable" moment.  All she needs are a striped jumpsuit and a prisoner number sign to hold in front of her.

Then I confused her by moving around her to get a side shot.  She was momentarily baffled, but refused to show any emotion because that would have been against the "I refuse to cooperate with any organized activity that shows me any kind of attention"  Sarah Rose code.

But now she's thinking it over....

...and after some more deep thought and ignoring me, she finally gave in to the joy of photography!
I love this picture!

Not exactly a white flag, but this was her relenting to Mommy's request to let me take a few nice pictures.

Oh wait, on second thought...she decided not to.
Patience is a very important virture when dealing with Sarah.  She is a very determined, very independant child.  But if you're patient long enough....

...and then can wait a little longer yet....

...she comes around!
(I love this picture, too!)

And then she really started cheesing it up for the camera!  This is the "I'm cute, take a picture of me like this" pose.

I am Woman, Hear me roar.

Just plain sweet!

Little Monkey

And I quote Sarah Rose: "Nuff".
She'd taken all the pictures she wanted and let me know that she was done!
(And I love this picture, too...notice her hand in her pocket!)
