I finally buckled down.
And.... *deep breath of resignation*.... we started school.
I will be honest: I was enjoying our time off and not really looking forward to starting back up. I think this has been my most favoritest summer of all time! We had a perfect ratio of things to do, both at home and away. The kids are at such a fun age in that they are young enough to enjoy doing kiddie things but old enough that I don't have to baby them the entire time. We (meaning the kids) stayed up late to see Daddy for at least a little bit every evening before bedtime and then we slept in in the morning. Library programs. Swimming lessons. VBS. Parks. Just all around a good summer.
But all good things must come to an end....
And that brings us to the first day of school today, August 7. Not that the fun has to end, just that school has to start.
Caleb will be in second grade this year. For those of you who are interested, we use a full pre-planned curriculum through a company called Christian Light Education. It is Scripture and rural-living based. Sarah will be doing Kindergarten work, with the careful guidance of Mama's teaching intuition. I know her strengths and weaknesses as of now and will play off those to build a curriculum for her from the resources I have on hand. We are going to have a great year!
Sweet Sarah Rose, so excited to be in school with Caleb this year! Sarah drew strawberries, a princess, an ice cream cone and flowers. She did all the art work, even coloring that K! |
And since we couldn't find a nice spot inside for a picture together, we went outside.... only to have the sun nearly blind them for the picture. But we still got a decent one for the memory!! |
