Very windy.
So we flew a kite.
It was almost TOO windy to be successful... almost. We did manage to keep it up in the air for a while. It was definitely too windy to get our "good" kites out for fear that they would be ripped apart or take a violent nose dive and break, so we stuck with the el cheapo.
Let me tell ya, there is nothing funner than two kids, a kite and a hay field! Look....

| We started at the edge of the hayfield nearest to the house, where this picture was taken. But by the end of kite flying time, we were almost all the way across to the other edge of the field, thanks to a little girl who let the string handle slip out of her hand! It was so windy and the kite was flying away so fast that I thought it was a goner. Caleb was relentless in chasing it down until, thankfully, the string handle snagged on an old woody weed. Caleb is our kite chaser downer hero! |
