Christmas, Family Style

We had big plans for Christmas Eve - church service, look at the lights in Oskaloosa, and then movie night at home with hot chocolate.  Well, the snow storm changed our plans a bit.  We ended up only watching a movie (Polar Express) and never got around to the hot chocolate.  Oh well, we still had fun!

We decided on tacos for supper.  Not exactly a traditional Christmas meal, but that didn't bother the kids from digging it!

Caleb is a big boy and has learned how to eat a taco pretty good...

...but Sarah is just learning and goes right down the middle.  As long as it gets in her tummy, I suppose she can eat it any way she wants.

And then there was Christmas morning.  After checking to see if Baby Jesus was in the manger to make SURE it was Christmas, we started our other activities.

Caleb showing off that Santa ate the cookies, drank the milk and one of the reindeer ate the carrot.  (I'm impressed, because Santa and Mrs. Santa really doesn't like milk, but HE drank it anyway.  What he'll do for the kids!)

Going....going...gone!  Caleb took right off on his bike.  I love the look of pure 'happy' on Josh's face.  Caleb was in his own world, too, while riding his bike for the first time.

CHOCOLATE!  Sarah was not all that interested in the gifts because she spotted the chocolate in the stocking right away!  She can spot a piece of chocolate and hear the wrapper opening from three rooms away.  (We've yet to test different levels of the house and indoor/outdoor abilities, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit to find super power capabilities present!)

Sarah fits every stereotype about a woman and her chocolate!  It makes everything better: sickness, grumpiness, happiness, snowstorms, power outages, natural disasters, nuclear wars, end of the world ...leave it to Sarah and chocolate is the answer!

So we finally got her interested in the Play Doh, but notice there's still chocolate in the other hand.

Josh wasn't expecting Santa to fill his stocking .  (And judging from the hair he wasn't expecting his picture to be taken either!  I still think he's cute.)

After several pre-breakfast pieces of the good stuff, I had to put away the candy.  Only then did Sarah discover her new set of wheels.

First boys (referring the picture in a previous post).  Now freedom.  I think I'm really in trouble.
