Sunday, October 9, our family's yard and machine shed was the location for our church's (first annual?) Fall Festival, complete with hayride and games. We had a wonderful time, enjoying the activities, food and fellowship. Below are just a few of the pictures I took. Even though I didn't get too many of the games (I was busy watching my kids and eating a little supper), I hope you see how much fun we had!
We had a couple of hours between getting home from church and when we were to go out to finish getting ready for the fun. Caleb and Sarah Rose really had to work on their patience since they were so excited for the "party", but just about the time it was time to go outside, they settled down for Caleb to read Sarah a book. |
The firsts of the kids that arrived started the evening off with a game of Frisbee. |
Baby Ford was one of the attractions we had on the farm. He was petted more in those four hours than most bottle calves are their entire lives! We were hoping the chickens would be strutting around for the kids to run, but they were smart and stayed in or near the chicken house, away from danger! I guess our ladies are smarter than we give them credit for! |
Sitting on the bales, waiting for everyone to show up to start the rides and dig in to the food! |
The little kids were smart! They bobbed for apples first, before everyone else stuck their faces in...along with all their boogers! (Not that I think anyone REALLY left their boogies.... but you really never know, huh?) |
Caleb chose to ride with friend Miles, who drove one of the two tractors pulling the racks for the evening. Miles reported back that Caleb "drove" the tractor the whole way and chatted non-stop. I love this picture! Big Farm Boy with Little Farm Boy! |
All Abooooooard! We had over 80 people come to the fellowship and since each rack held 20-25 people, we took both racks on two journeys and even some people asked for another trip... which meant a third trip! Those who didn't ride first had supper and then everyone switched. |
On the road again...they couldn't wait to get on the road again!
(This line only works if you sing it to Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again"!)
I followed the tractors in the Jeep with the blinkers on, just to be safe! |
And here's my lovely Jeep companion!
Notice how she is dressed; it was unseasonably warm on this particular Sunday evening. |
Our route was to head down our road, into the town of Chilicothe, scoop the loop and then head home. You can see both tractors/racks in this picture. |
Heading home. |
When we got on the flat stretch in front of our house, Josh and Miles gave the riders a little thrill by dragging back to the yard. Its alot of fun to watch from the back and see first, the look of panic and then the sheer excitement as the back rack realizes they are speeding up and passing the front rack. And then the front rack riders can't believe they've just been passed! |
In Chilicothe, one tractor turns a block before the other tractor, allowing the tractors to go around the same block coming from different directions....the riders then get to greet each other as the racks meet! Fun! |
By the time we were nearing home on the second ride, the sun had set and dusk started settling in. |
