It's a Bird! It's a Plane! Its....

...Yep!  It's a plane!

Every Labor Day weekend, a group of antique airplane owners gather at the Blakesburg Airport to do whatever it is that antique airplane owners do.  On this weekend every year, we see dozens of planes flying over our farm and we usually take a drive to Blakesburg to see what we can spy.  The group doesn't allow us regular non-antique-plane-owning-people on the premises, but we can still sit in the driveway of the nearby field to check out the planes as the take off and land.  There are also a couple of clearings in the tree line that borders the road to allow us to see a few of the three hundred or so planes that have collected there.

View from the road, looking in.

Plane taking off.

The same plane flying straight above our car.

One of the planes in line on the runway.

This double winged plane was pretty neat....well, as much of it as we could see anyway.  We watched it get in line, take off and then wobble kinda scary like once in the air.  I almost asked Josh to leave our temporary parking spot because I really thought it wasn't going to make it at first.  But, thankfully, it stopped wobbling and, as far as we know, had a safe flight.

Another one coming in for a landing.

After watching the planes, Josh wanted to treat us to an ice cream in the park.   Caleb gladly took him up on the offer!  While Sarah Rose and I....

...opted to stay in the car and rest, since neither one of us felt the best.  All and all, despite not being able to get in close to the planes and feeling icky, it was a nice Sunday afternoon!
