Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow!

For Cathy :-)
Or more accurately, hair two days ago and much less hair today!

I have had long hair of some sort for many, many years!  While in school, it was easy to just throw in a ponytail and then go away to whatever was on the agenda.  Then long hair was great when the kids were babies because, once again, the ponytail was so easy to fall back on.  And to be honest, having short hair scared me because my hair is very thick and wavy and is, well, pretty wild and unattractive if enough attention isn't given to it.  (And I'm not the kind of chick that likes to stand in front of a mirror for any longer than it takes to check whether or not I've got an embarrassing zit that needs attention before I walk out the door.)  The shorter my hair, the longer it takes to manage it, thus the longer it takes getting ready... you see the problem?  (By the way, my long hair only took twenty minutes to straighten, and I did that only for church and special occasions.)

But lately, I've had the urge to change.  I don't know if its the hot and humid weather that long, thick hair makes seem to be much hotter and more humid?  Or the fact that I would almost give myself whiplash every night when I turned over on my own hair?  Or if the fact that my 30th is creeping up on me and I want a more mature look?  Whatever the reason, I took the plunge last Friday and my long, beautiful brown (slightly gray streaked) hair was traded in for a short, hot-mama-highlighted "do".

The "before".
The last time I trimmed it was right after Sarah Rose was born.  The time before that was when Caleb was born.  And the time before THAT  was right after  Josh and I got married.  So its been on about a two year schedule and this was the two year mark!  Usually when I cut my hair, its to the shoulder and an even cut so I can start growing it out all over again.

But this time, all of it came off.  Cathy cut it off in six (I think) ponies that I'll package up and send to Locks of Love.  When stretched out, the longest ponytail was just at a foot.  The shortest was about nine inches.  And alot more hair came off after that when she started shaping it up.
So are you ready?  Time for the big reveal...

Ta-da!
(I wish there was some way to put up side by side pictures to show the before and after, but you'll just after to scroll back up 'cause if there is a way I can't figure it out!)

Here's the front.
I have to give Cathy a TON of credit!  Never have I had hair that was cut short, thinned, textured and whatever else she did to it to make it "do-able", but I love it!
Thanks a million, Cathy :-)

  1. Rachael and Kathy love your new "do"! It looks very chic and cool for the hot weather, easy to care for, too. We hope....
